Understanding Caste System in India
Introduction
From times immorial, the Indian Society has been functioning as per the rules and regulations laid down by the Holy Hindu Scriptures called Vedas. Vedas have always been the direction through which the society functioned. Since Vedas are most perfect form of work … which Hindus believe to have come from the Breathing of Lord Krishna, as Lord Krishna himself states in Bhagawat Gita … there can be no dispute about the authority and authencity of Vedas. Vedas are to be followed as per their intent and content.
The cause for the great slide of the Indian Society is attrituted to this non-comlipance of rules and regulations that are prescribed in Vedas. In Bhagawat Gita, Lord Krishna himself says that one who does not follow Vedas is sure to get entangled into more sin.
But, if a person is Krishna Conscious then there is no obligation for him to follow the Vedas as all his life he is in permanent connection with Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Krishna. He is sure to be saved.
Caste System will always be there in society
Caste System has been the foundations of Indian Society as prescibed in Vedas and other Hindu Literature. Vishnu Purana states explicitly that the Society has been divided into four classes called Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaisya and Shudra.
This is the way Society has been functioning for a longtime, and even now this is the way Society is functioning. Its just that people have not properly understood or realised that Caste System is still prevailing in the society … all over the world.
Caste System is the pre-requisite for the society to function. The fact that even in this age Society is functioning properly means that Caste System is still there. Without Caste System, human civilization would not be there at all !
Caste System Misunderstood at present
As time passed in the “punya bhoomi” that is India, people have just forgotton the significance of Vedas and Bhagawat Gita. How many of you follow Bhagawat Gita as per its content and Intent. If society follows Bhagawat Gita and Vedas as per their Intent and Content, then would we have this deterioration of Indian Society to this extent, that people just dont want to be righteous ?
If people are not righteous, if people donot speak truth, then how can they be called the descendents of the Great Bharata Varsha that we know of yesteryears ? Have people just forgotten who they really are ?
May i remind my dearest citizens of India … that they are the most loved people of God … and they have done meritorious deeds in their past lives to have born in this “Punya Bhoomi” that is India.
If people are very fortunate that they are born as Indians, then why is that there is no respect and regard for Human Life ? Bhagawat Gita says that each living being is a soul in the body … right ?
People know that humans have the faculties called brains and Human Birth should be properly utilized to attain Salvation or Moksha, as written in Bhagawat Gita, then why is it that people shy away from respecting the injuctions of Vedas and Bhagawat Gita, which clearly state that each living being should be respected.
I wish to take the attention of the reader to this heinous act by one Upper Class man to a 6 year girl of Lower Class who was thrown into fire for some petty reasons, in the city of Mathura which is synonymous to Lord Krishna !
I want to ask this Upper Class man one thing. He claims that he is Upper Class man. That means, that he is essentially following Caste System and calls himself Hindu. That means, that he should have read Bhagawat Gita, should have known what is says … which states that “souls” are given body as per their “Paap aur Punya”, in their next life. If this Upper Class Gentleman does such heinous thing in this life, can he expect to get human life in his next life ? Does he think that all his deeds will get unnoticed by Lord Krishna ?
Yes … i think Caste System should be respected for society to function properly. “I am for Caste System.”
But unfortunately in this present society, people think that if a person is born in a Brahmana Family then he can be a Brahmana. For sure, after his “Upanayanam”, he will be regarded as Brahmana … but that will be only in the eyes of the society … not in the eyes of Lord Krishna. A person can be considered as a Brahmana if he has “some qualities of Brahmana”, as understood and prescribed in the Vedas.
Every person cannot become Brahmana if he is having a Sacred Thread. Its said that “What a Sword is for a Kshatriya, Sacred Thread is for a Brahmana”.
A “learned person” is regarded as a Brahmana. A person cannot claim to be Brahmana because of his birth in a Brahmana Family. Can anyone dare to call Maharishi Valmiki who is born shudra, who was not a Brahmana by birth, as not a “Learned Person” ?
The bottomline for humanity is that every living being should be respected. If not, people who commit crimes will have to fall deep into this saga of “Paap and Punya” because of their karma.
Well … all this is written in Bhagawat Gita, which came from the mouth of Lord Krishna ! Are people ready to follow Bhagawat Gita now … or will it take some more time for them to understand it ?
Understanding Caste System in the Present Age
Ultimately this Caste System is for proper functioning of Society. Ofcourse because of oppression by some of the Upper Class people on the Lower Class People, this Caste System gets a bad name. But essentially without Caste System … a society cannot function.
In this present age, Politicians can be considered as Kshatryias. The IAS officers can be considered as Brahmanas. The Film Stars can be considered as Vaisyas. And the people working in the NREG (National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) can be considered as Shudras.
I take this example of comparing Politicians, IAS officers, Film Stars, and NREG Workers because in this present age of Kaliyug, people would have forgotten Vedas and Bhagawat Gita. So no point in trying to make people understand what these four classes are actually are !
A Golden Age for India
I think India is having a Golden Age in the near future. The Sounds of Vedas will reverberate in every corner of the country. The Caste System as per the Vedas will be re-established, in accordance to the rules and regulations of the Vedas.
Vamsi Krishna Karra

whoever has written this artical,is not aware about the nomenclature of hindu scriptures for social system in aryavarta.
i would like to remind the gentlemen that it is not the caste system that is prevailing in the whole world but the “varnashram-vyavastha”.
i am agreeing with other facts of the article.
varna is important but not the caste and varna is totally dependent on the “guna and karma” of the individual, not by birth as described in “manusmriti”.
