Valentines Day – Celebration of Love
That is the specialty of this day … Valentines Day … when the normally hard and stubborn Hearts of people suddenly become soft and full of love and emotion and the condition of their heart can be seen in the eyes of the concerned person. Call it a miracle or whatever, this day is indeed blessed.
There are some very well known controversies in India in respect to this day. There are people like the RSS, who are opposed to this whole idea of celebrating Valentines Day in the open. I guess they are referring to the “Physical Openness” that the couples get drawn into in the public that they are opposed to.
It is a challenge for me to point a finger at them. On the one hand their actions like … not allowing lovers to have a nice time in the public … and … breaking the shops which sell “Valentines Day Merchandize” … is completely uncalled for … as I think they are interfering in the lives of genuine lovers and also the shop keepers who sell these merchandize. But I do recognize the fact that this so called “Celebration of Love” on this day, really crosses the social and moral barriers, as non-genuine lovers get extremely sexual and erotic, which leads to lots of Heart Breaks, and problems in their respective families. But, having said that, I think the RSS will be going across the line, if it again tries to create some trouble on this day.
Maybe the RSS can restrain themselves by remembering Lord Krishna on this day. This day also reminds me of the Raasa Leelas of Lord Krishna wherein Lord Krishna becomes the “Valentine” of his Gopikas. Gopikas get mesmerized by the beauty of Lord Krishna, keep him at the centre of their mind and imagine dancing around him forgetting the world around them. That is true love that they are having for Lord Krishna and Lord Krishna reciprocates this love by producing some wonderful tunes from his flute, which makes the Gopikas even more submerged in love.
It’s needless to say, that the love between Lord Krishna and Radha is considered as a perfect love between a male and a female. Even though they never got married to each other, but their love is considered a Pure and Divine.
I consider this day as divine, as Love is divine. But, I will sing along the RSS who are against those people who indulge in activities which cross social and moral barriers, leading to Heart Breaks and problems in personal and family lives of unsuccessful lovers.
According to me, the perfect couples in a Valentines Day are the “Love Birds”.
